Figma Challenge - Starting with Interface Design
Start sketching your prototypes
Presentation
The industry has been using the concept of prototypes and proofs of concept (POC) for many years. This happens with cars, planes, engines, vacuum cleaners, blenders, materials, structures, clothing and so many other things.
The technology area also uses the concept of prototypes. And the big secret is being able to generate quick prototypes and get them into the hands of users and customers quickly.
Figma is a very versatile tool with many features, including allowing designers to put ideas and concepts into something visual and interactive.
When you buy a software project, you immediately start discussing the features, requirements and assembling prototypes. Or a sale can only be closed by having a proof of concept (prototype) that can demonstrate the capabilities of the system/platform.
As you can see, it is essential for companies to have qualified people to design interfaces. Engineers and programmers are not usually very good with this and front-end developers (interfaces/screens) expect to receive a file created by designers, containing the basic idea to start working.
About the career.
A professional starting his career in User Experience-UX and User Interface-UI, (different names for screen/interface and user experience designer) with little or no experience, but with the necessary knowledge, usually starts his career with salaries of 3,000 to 4,000 reais.
About the challenge
We are proposing that you start your studies, carrying out the training and reading the materials listed below on this page. Also use the community to ask your questions and doubts.
The theme of the project is sustainability and reverse engineering. These are pretty names for ugly problems we have in the world today. You know those fluorescent lamps, batteries, old equipment, cans, oil, paint scraps and other scraps? In a few cities there are selective collection programs, where people separate these materials in their homes and city halls carry out recycling weekly.
In the overwhelming majority of cases, a culture has been created of people who make a living from recycling these materials, going through houses and looking through the trash to find something worth some money. Other materials such as cooking oil are disputed by some people who pay a few cents or exchange for cleaning materials, because this material is 100% reused in the biodiesel used by diesel engines and has a reasonable value on the recycling market.
What should I build
It will be your challenge to give free rein to your imagination and think of an app or website where people can indicate that they have some type of recyclable material in their homes. You have the freedom to think about how things should work. We'll put some ideas below, but you don't need to be tied to them.
1-Your application can have the concept of Uber, where the nearest collectors are notified about the availability of recyclables and the first one to accept will receive the address for collection and the maximum time to collect.
2-It can be based on a reverse auction, in this case the collectors make a small offer for the recyclable material you have and the person accepts the one they like most.
3-Your application can have the concept of donating to a charity, where the collected material generates a small income for the institution.
After thinking about how the application or website will work, you will have to design the screens, from registering a new user, login, main screen, instructions, notifications, registration of available material, collection notice, withdrawal notice, among others. . Remember, you have the freedom to draw and imagine, but the flow of ideas needs to be complete, ie. The material needs to leave my house and be disposed of correctly, and I need information about when this will happen, if I need to pay for something or if I will receive something.
Our encouragement
We will offer the best placed a purchase voucher worth R$250 reais. Some courses and training and a free stipend from our mentoring and career building services. More details can be seen below.
Participation rules
1-You must build your own prototype and know how to explain each part.
2-It cannot be a copy of other materials already made on the internet. We know that not everything can be created, but you must deliver personalized material with your ideas.
3-You must pay attention to the problem that must be solved and focus on building something that generates value for users.
4- Send your work by sending an email to desafios@polartis.odoo.com or clicking here. You must make your material public on figma and send us the link for access. Once submitted, avoid making changes to your project...
5-The works will be evaluated by the committee formed by the following people:
"Jhean Andrade", "Renan Carmona", "Igor Brito", "Renan Almeida".
6-Creativity, sequence of flows, usability, ease and standardization of interfaces will be taken into account. Choose to make an executable layout, where users can interact with your project, without the need for much explanation.
7-Use the community to share questions and help other people. Although the jobs are individual, learning to work as a team and collectively is essential for a solid career.
8- A prize will be given to professionals and another to amateurs, with the best in each category being awarded.
About the prizes
- 1 place professional -> Voucher R$250,00 + Carreira Alavancada 4.0.
- 1 place amateur -> Voucher R$250,00 + Carreira Alavancada 4.0.
- Most voted -> Voucher R$100,00.
